My RN was gained at Addenbrookes, Cambridge; RM at St Mary's Portsmouth, ADM and MTD/PGCE with Royal College of Midwives and the University of Surrey. I started teaching in 1976 and my degree with the OU, and from 1994 with the University of Bedfordshire. Finished MPhil in October 2003 ‘Exploring how nurses and midwives gain their research skills’.
As a Graduate member of the BPS, this qualification has been used with distance learning students at London South Bank University for 14 years.
I have 6 link wards at the Luton and Dunstable NHS Hospital Trust.
I have been teaching on the Public Heath Masters since 2005, and have overseen its progress and adoption of a distance learning mode.
My areas of interest Public Health, Health Promotion, Ethics, Gynaecology, Professional Development (all aspects) and Midwifery.

As a UK trained midwife and a nurse my teaching is within Midwifery and Nurse Education, and Public Health Masters. My clinical practice areas are Midwifery and Gynaecology.

1980 – Appointed External Examiner by the CMB and then ENB. now the NMC.
My family background is Farming, so have an extensive family circle, although in my immediate family I have a younger sister and brother.
