Gerd Kortemeyer
Assistant Professor of Physics Education and Director
Gerd Kortemeyer received his Diplom ("Masters") in Physics from the University of Hanover, Germany, and his Ph.D. in Physics from Michigan State University. Since 1999, he is the Director of the LON-CAPA Project, and since 2004, he is an Assistant Professor of Physics Education in the Lyman Briggs College and the Division of Science and Mathematics Education at Michigan State University. His research interests include the use of technology in physics education at the undergraduate level, particularly in connection with formative assessment, as well as the influence of student epistemology on physics learning success. As an extension of the latter, he recently became interested in how exposure to the history of physics may expose the “hidden curriculum” of physics.
