On 25 June 2012 the MEDEAnet webinar "How to integrate gaming in the classroom" took place, attracting 27 participants from 8 different European countries. The recording and presentations by Steven Ronsijn (Sint-Lievenscollege in Ghent, Belgium) and Jolanta Galecka (Young Digital Planet, Poland) are now freely available online thanks to the MEDEAnet project.
The MEDEAnet consortium organised a one-hour webinar "How to integrate gaming in the classroom" on 25 June 2012, in which Steven Ronsijn (Sint-Lievenscollege in Ghent, Belgium) described how he integrates the game Third World Farmer in his geography classes and outlined what he considers to be the 4 success factors that teachers should take into account when it comes to game-based learning. Jolanta Galecka (Young Digital Planet, Poland) showed several interesting games and the evolution YDP has undergone in its design process based on feedback provided by children playing the games.
You can watch a recording of this webinar with accompanying presentations online: http://www.medeanet.eu/event/medeanet-webinar-how-integrate-gaming-classroom-25-june-2012-4pm-cet.
This webinar and associated resources are freely available thanks to the MEDEAnet project which aims to promote media-based learning to organisations and practitioners through local training and networking events, online resources and knowledge sharing. The consortium of partners involved in this EU-supported project will also promote and share several of the best practices identified during the annual competition MEDEA Awards, which is open for entries until 17 September 2012. Previous winners and highly recommended entries included Steven Ronsijn’s Anti-Anti and YDP’s EduSensus.
