New book on Innovative education
In April 2011 the book ‘Innovatief onderwijs in de praktijk’ (Innovative education in practice) has been published. This book, edited by CELTEC's Bert Hoogveld et al, describes in an inspiring way twelve educational programmes that have been developed using het 4C-ID model.
Inspiration
The twelve examples described in the book come from different educational sectors and domains: from professional education (vmbo) to academic education, from the training of hair dressers to psychology. Each example clearly shows the strength of the model by illustrating the application of a selection of general design principles in a practical situation. An introductory chapter explains all these design principles. The book is a source of inspiration for those who want to work with the 4C-ID model and is looking for concrete examples.
Innovatief onderwijs in de praktijk is a logical sequel and complement to the earlier book, also appearing in the higher education series (Hoger Onderwijs Reeks), on innovative educational design (Innovatief Onderwijs Ontwerpen(.
4C-ID model
The 4C-ID model was originally developed by Jeroen van Merriënboer and no longer needs an introduction. It’s nationally and internationally renowned and praised by educational specialist David Merrill because it is one of the few models for educational design that complies with all "first principles of instruction". Education designed by the 4C-ID model is task oriented, activates prior knowledge, demonstrates successful approaches, puts students actively to work and makes them integrate what they have learned in their profession or daily life.
