The iLearning Forum 2014, to be held in Paris on 11-12 February, will revolve around the key areas of eLearning in the Enterprise and Adult Education in the second decade of the 21st century.
The conference will include moderated sessions featuring three or four presentations on the different angles of a given subject, such as latest innovations, research findings, best practices, business cases and strategies.
The Call for Papers is now open for submissions on any of the following topics:
- E-learning deployment case studies in large and medium French companies: This year’s case studies revisited one year later, with ROI comparisons, benchmarking, performance indicators, critical success factors and learning’s.
- Learning Management Systems: Open source vs. proprietary platforms. Selection criteria, key factors, decision support.
- Pre- and post- testing and certification of learners: Evaluation criteria, what and how to measure, managing the benefits of eLearning projects.
- Storytelling, an overview of this mainstream trend in content design: What is it all about, why it matters, who to use it for, how to get started with examples and results of scientific studies.
- Serious Games - Coming of age: Case studies and analysis, when games work best, what they cost, ROI, new tools and trends, future perspectives.
- Mobile Learning - After the storm: How to develop and integrate mobile content in your eLearning courses, feedback from users, case studies, limits of mobile learning, what works best, which type of audience.
- Social Learning – State of the art of social learning in France: Comparison with other G8 countries. What does the future look like?
- eLearning and the extended enterprise, with a highlight on SMB’s.

The organisers of the Media & Learning Conference, have announced their first line-up of keynote speakers: Beeban Kidron, Renee Hobbs, Sian Bayne and Aidan Chambers. The theme of this year's conference, which is supported by the MEDEAnet project, is Media Education and Literacy: Equipping Learners for Open, Creative Learning Futures.
This year’s event, taking place on 12-13 December in the Ministry Headquarters in Brussels, will feature Film Director Baroness Beeban Kidron who has spent the last 30 years working in feature film, television drama and documentary film and and is co-founder of the education charity FILMCLUB, the largest cultural programme in UK schools, with over 7,000 film clubs engaging over 220,000 children and young people each week.
She will be joined by Prof. Renee Hobbs who is an internationally recognised authority on digital and media literacy education. Renee is Professor and Founding Director of the Harrington School of Communication and Media at the University of Rhode Island, USA. As the Founder of the Media Education Lab she develops programs that advance media literacy education through scholarship and community service.
Dr. Sian Bayne is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Education whose research is focused on the many ways in which the digital changes and challenges education with a focus on distance education, higher education, MOOCs and museum learning.
The fourth keynote that was announced is Aidan Chambers, well known British author of children's and young-adult novels who has launched his own app Tablet Tales, with which he is beginning to explore the effect on his own work of writing for the iPad.
The conference theme is at the heart of what will be a unique programme exploring the role of creativity and innovation in education and training against the backdrop of dramatic change in how, where and what learners learn.
Media & Learning 2013 is organised by the Flemish Ministry of Education and Training and media company ATiT, in collaboration with the European Commission Directorate-General for Education and Culture.

Conference Programme for Learning Innovations and Quality: The Future of Digital Resources Available
LINQ event hosts from the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany have published the final conference programme for LINQ 2013. The conference in Rome will be supported by a variety of prominent figures vital to the fields of technology-enhanced learning, open educational resources, and vocational education in Europe and worldwide. Furthermore, their presence will further the highlight of LINQ 2013: the launch of ICORE, the International Council for Open Research and Education (www.icore-online.org). Registration for LINQ 2013 is still open for all interested parties until May 8th, but seats are limited and should be reserved as quick as possible.
On May 16th, Learning experts and pioneers such as Dr. Tony Bates of Tony Bates Associates, Dr. Ignasi Labastida, director of the OCW Consortium and Creative Commons, and António Silva Mendes, Director of Education and Vocational Training at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Education and Culture will take part as keynote speakers at LINQ 2013. They will join the already confirmed Prof. Dr. Rory McGreal and Prof. Dr. Fred Mulder, both UNESCO chairs for Open Educational Resources (OER), as well as Christian-Friedrich Lettmayr, Director of the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (CEDEFOP). Together these esteemed speakers will establish the greater context of international learning innovations for LINQ 2013.
Complementing the established experts, selected researchers from over 150 submissions will also present new and innovative research papers and projects. Four parallel sessions, divided into three parts each, will provide the structure for presentations. The 1st Parallel Session will consist of invited European speakers as well as two workshops respectively on the co-hosting VOA3R project and the innovative ODS project. The 2nd Parallel Session will consist of the selected papers from the LINQ 2013 call. These papers in turn fit into three thematic sections: “Digital Resources & Online Repositories”, “TEL for Schools, Universities, & Lifelong Learning”, and “Innovations & Future Trends in LET”. In addition, the 3rd and 4th Parallel Sessions will be dedicated to the presentations of selected European and international projects, thematically divided into “Quality Management: Evaluation, Standards & Certification”, “Open Access & Open Educational Resources: Policies, Tools and Content”, and “New Knowledge Networks – Ideas & Innovation for LLL” on the one hand, and “VET, New Skills & Quality”, “Teachers in Focus: Competence & Skill Development”, and “Innovation in TEL” on the other.
