Erik Knol

Erik Knol runs his consultancy and project development organisation called Qeam BV (http://www.Qeam.com, Leiden, the Netherlands). He focusses on topics and projects dealing with technological developments, innovation, education and regional (economic) developments.

 

He earned his master in Technology & Policy (1998 - cum laude) at Eindhoven University of Technology - the Netherlands. He also holds a bachelor in Electrical Engineering. Besides his professional research period at the Eindhoven University of Technology (topic: innovation and small and medium-sized enterprises), he worked as a business consultant in the IT industry for several years.

 

Erik was the initiator of several European projects (EnerCities, Energy2B and WasteKIT) and works via these projects with various organisations like universities (e.g. University of Sheffield, University of Coimbra, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences), education institutes (e.g. ROC Nijmegen, Lancaster & Morecambe College), companies (e.g. Paladin Studios, AEB, Van Gansewinkel) and umbrella organisations like Agencia de la Energía de Granada, Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce, Amsterdam Innovation Motor AIM and ASTER.

 

One of his current research topics is the effects of the serious game EnerCities on the attitude change of youngsters regarding energy saving at home (see: http://www.EnerCities.eu). This research is done together with dr. Peter W. de Vries of University of Twente.
