Recording of a workshop on Music and Language Learning at the IATEFL LT & TD SIG conference in Yeditepe University, Istanbul 27 May12 for the EU PopuLLar project.

There is a huge need to motivate secondary school students, in particular, to learn languages, focus digital competencies and be creative.

The project will ask students to write their own lyrics to songs of their choice. They will then translate their songs in to the target language they are learning. They then record and upload their songs.

The steps your students will undertake are:

Phase 1 – creating and recording their own song

Step 1 - Select a song

Step 2 - Rewrite the lyrics (native language)

Step 3 - Translate their lyrics (target language)

Step 4 - Record singing (both) audio & video

Step 5 - Upload and share

Phase 2 – sharing across Europe

Step 1 - Selecting songs made by other students
