EU training course in Berlin in October: Video Production and Web 2.0
There are still places available for the training week in Berlin that will be taking place from the 21st to the 25th of October, 2013.
The course is based on a combination of video education and social media methods and is a hybrid outcome of these two EU projects: www.web20erc.eu and www.viducate.net. The aim is to explore creative approaches in the online and offline use of video within education.
You can apply at your National EU Agency for funding. The deadline for application is the 30th April 2013.

First Keynote Speakers for LINQ 2013 Announced
The 2nd European Conference on "Learning Innovations and Quality" (LINQ 2013) has announced several high-ranking speakers to be present during the event on May 16th and 17th at the Global Headquarters of the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Rome, Italy.
The 2nd European Conference on "Learning Innovations and Quality" (LINQ 2013) has announced several high-ranking speakers to be present during the event on May 16th and 17th at the Global Headquarters of the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Rome, Italy. Figures such as the esteemed Prof. Dr. Rory McGreal and Prof. Dr. Fred Mulder, both UNESCO chairs for Open Educational Resources (OER), as well as Christian-Friedrich Lettmayr, Director of the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (CEDEFOP), will contribute their experience to the conference. Their support of LINQ’s continuing mission to examine the intersections between learning innovations and quality will provide an excellent framework for the state-of-the-art research and project work collected through the LINQ call for papers and projects, ended on March 4th.
“Rory McGreal and Fred Mulder have long been crucial pioneers in the development of Open Educational Resources as UNESCO Chairs,” says Christian M. Stracke, LINQ Conference Chair and international ISO Convener for learning quality from the University of Duisburg-Essen. “We will be honoured to greet them at LINQ 2013 and to learn from their professional and academic expertise. Likewise, Christian-Friedrich Lettmayr’s familiarity with the inner workings of CEDEFOP will prove incredibly valuable to practically situate the newest research efforts submitted to LINQ 2013. We are certain that the discussion at LINQ 2013 will benefit enormously from their presence.”
More than 150 researchers and practitioners have answered the LINQ 2013 call for papers and projects and the contributions of the highest quality will make the conference programme insightful and exciting. Early-bird registration at the reduced rate of 90€ will remain open until March 31st, 2013. All interested parties active in the fields of new learning methods and design, Technology-Enhanced Learning (TEL), quality standards and certification, human resources development, competences and skills, digital resources, learning materials, and online collaboration and communities are encouraged to register for LINQ 2013 and take part in the continuing development of learning innovations and quality. The University of Tuscia (Italy) Joins the Agricultural Competences Project (AGRICOM)
The University of Tuscia (UNITUS) based in Viterbo, Italy has just joined the AGRICOM consortium, providing expertise in Italian agriculture and food production, as well as forestry and energy efforts.
The full first version of the AGRICOM Competence Model (ACM) was developed by the end of the first project year and is now undergoing extensive testing in AGRICOM partner countries. Now, the University of Tuscia (UNITUS) will coordinate the Italian portion of pilot-testing phase. Their efforts will complement the on-going pilot-testing in the other countries like Germany, Greece, and the Netherlands. Together, their results will demonstrate a variety of national implementations and applications.

Complex Learning with social networks: a Grundtvig course
Association EDUCOMMUNITY adds a new Grundtvig course to its catalogue!
The course is reserved to teachers, trainers and non teaching staff working in the sector of Non Vocational Adult Education (NVAE) and will take place in Rome, Italy, in july 2013.
Learning and teaching processes are changing: the pervasiveness of networking web technologies lead us to identify new methods and instructional strategies.
The course COMPLEX LEARNING WITH SOCIAL NETWORKS will introduce the basic concepts of the training model Complex Learning and will help teachers, trainers and non-teaching staff working in Adult Education to use social networks and social tools of web 2.0 to build personalized learning environments.
Course is in English and is delivered in Rome, Italy.
Course days: 22-26 july 2013. Deadline for registration: 11 january 2013.

Participate in the second MEDEAnet webinar “The Case for Media Education in the Classroom”
This one-hour webinar on 18 October 2012 (4pm CET) will give you an opportunity to get an insight into different ways to integrate various media education schemes and approaches in the classroom in order to improve your students’ daily engagement with the media.
This is aimed at teachers and trainers as well as representatives from educational ministries responsible for the development of the overall curriculum in different regions and countries.
Nicoleta Fotiade from ActiveWatch in Bucharest, who is an expert in media education, will give a short introduction to various media education schemes and critical thinking methods in training settings that could help your students open their minds towards their critical interaction and use of information media. Using Nicoleta’s presentation as starting point, Marianna Vivitsou from the University of Helsinki in Finland will discuss the examples provided from the pedagogic point of view and extrapolate them into a broader discussion based on her own media education experience.
Participation in these webinars is free but prior registration is required via an online form since the maximum number of participants for each webinar is 50. Come early if you want to be sure to have a spot!

Notes about the IMPLEMENT project
“Implementing Lifelong Learning Universities through Training and Development” is a project funded under the European Union’s Lifelong Learning Programme. The objective of IMPLEMENT is to further disseminate and actively exploit the highly praised results of the BeFlex Plus project training materials for professionals in the ULLL/UCE sector. This is accomplished by adapting the initial materials to the project partners’ realities and making these tools available on-line for wide and open use.
Project GREAT Findings from online survey
The survey is one of the tools used in the research phase for the partnership while looking to gather information about the existence and the use of games for learning and training within the partnership countries: Portugal, Austria, Italy, Romania, Turkey as well as in other European countries.
The aim of this survey was to call industry and learning organizations, within the different countries, for their cooperation and collaboration. The Target groups selected were: Trainers and Teachers; Training providers; Training VET and Higher Educational Organizations.
Project GREAT Expert Group Report
In late February, in Graz, a group of experts from Romania, Turkey, Portugal, Austria, Germany, Austria and United Kingdom, selected by the different partners shared with the GREAT Team their knowledge and experience, exploring game based learning (GBL) methodologies as a useful tool for education and training.
The aim of this meeting was to give an insight on the training and teaching process in several European States, discussing how people can acquire new competences to the labor market, reflecting on the possibilities offered by new methodologies on learning.
