The project aims to develop and test initial and ongoing training products in e-commerce focused to SMEs' skills requeriments.

The project is based on the conclusions of a study carried out in Belgium’s German-speaking community in 1999. Many companies, particularly SMEs, identified their internal skills requirements for e-commerce, but are finding it difficult to plan activities in this sector.

The project comprises three distinct phases:

1. Development and testing of a strategy to raise companies’ awareness of the potential of e-commerce. In this context, the partnership will develop a self-assessment tool allowing it to determine the areas of application suited to the company and evaluate the consequences of the introduction of e-commerce in terms of skills required and financial and organisational impact. During this phase, the partnership will also develop a handbook for advisers;

2. Design of initial and ongoing training in e-commerce;

3. Development of training products, both in electronic format for distance learning and on paper. Testing and evaluation of products
