Teachers’ competition for Social Media use in Formal Language Learning Contexts

Winner announcement

The EU-funded Language learning and social media: 6 key dialogues (LS6) is proud to announce the winner of the teacher’s competition “ Social media use in formal language learning contexts”.  This competition, running from February to July 2011, has attracted more than 80 submissions. A panel of interdisciplinary judges has chosen 10 best practices out of approximately 80 submissions. It was very difficult for our judges to select the winner among so many worthy and wonderful practices.

Our sincere congratulation goes to the winner, teacher Ceri Anwen James in a Welsh-medium school Ysgol Gyfun Bro Morgannwg from Vale of Glamorgan, Wales (UK). In her quest for combining language learning and social media use, she has created an integrated website for German learning students. Combined with a learning platform, online blogging and Podcasting, her practice has met particular linguistic, academic and practical demands. In the meantime, this practice was highly appreciated as it connects school, teacher, students as well as their families and friends.

The winner will be rewarded with a 1000€ prize, for technical equipment of her choice and will be invited to Warsaw in October 2012 for the awarding ceremony on the cost of the organisers.

For this occasion, LS6 team thanks all applicants who have shared their passion and insight in language learning practices in the Web 2.0 era. Furthermore, special thanks go to the jury panel, all members of LS6 team and to the European Commission’s Lifelong Learning Programme.
