LS6 network 4 days at Expolangues in Paris

On the second day of Expolangues, the EC invited Prof. Charles MAX (University of Luxembourg) to present the LS6 network for its innovative approach and its unique mix of activities in the area of language learning and social media. A workshop included the presentation of EACEA (The Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency) for the future EC programme and the various initiatives of the Multilingualism unit, presentation of three selected European projects and a round table with a panel of experts. Despite the unexpected cold in Paris, the enthusiasm of expo-visiors towards LS6 live blog has gathered more than 10 videos, more than dozen tweets, several audios as well as few screencasts.  All these contributions are disseminated instantly via our dica-lab LS6 Blog with the request/option for further commenting and extending the contributions on the site.

Expolangues 2012

The project “Language  Learnikng and Social Media”was offered the possibility of disseminating its innovative approach and ongoing work in the field of language learning at a workshop the Euproean Commission is organising at Expolangues 2012. On the 2nd of February, the European Commission is organising a full day of events about its ongoing work in language learning which will include presentations on the future programme, the various initiatives of the Multilingualism unit, a round table with a panel of experts and last but not least a workshop with projects. our dica-lab LS6 Blog will upload podcasting from public in the Expolangues 2012.

The Publication

“Teaching with social media in classroom settings: Top ten practices from teachers around Europe

 

This brochure presents the 10 best practices from the “Teachers’ competition for social media use in formal language learning contexts”, run throughout 2011. The aim of the competition was to identify the role of Web 2.0 technology in classroom settings for language learning and teaching practices in Europe.

 

Now that we have highlighted current good practices through the competition, this special publication is about to share these deserving and admirable practices with a broader audience. We hope that this publication will be of interest to teachers, educators, parents and pupils sharing good practices in the use of social media in classroom settings.

Winner announcement
on Teacher’s competition on social media use in formal language learning contexts

The second round of  Teacher’s competition has been undertaken to identify the best practice among the selected ten practices. The winner of this competition has been announced. The winner is teacher Ceri Anwen James in a Welsh-medium school Ysgol Gyfun Bro Morgannwg from Vale of Glamorgan, Wales (UK).  The more detailed winner announcement is here and if you want to know more about the best practice, visit here. The winner  will be rewarded with a 1000€ prize, of technical equipment for her choice, plus all expenses covered to travel to Warsaw in october 2012 for the awarding ceremony.

The teacher's competition aiming to gather practices of social media use in classroom settings is now over (deadline: July 30). The first round of selection will be communicated early September and the selection of the ten best practices will be made available on our website by mid-September. A second round of selection will be launched with the aim to define the top practice that will be awarded with a 1000€ prize.
