Biography

Dr. Ulf-Daniel Ehlers studied English, Social Sciences and Educational Sciences at the University of Bielefeld where he received his Ph.D. with honours on “Quality in E-Learning” in 2003.

He is now coordinating European projects for the Department for Information Systems for Production and Operations Management at the University Duisburg-Essen.

He served as lecturer in several German universities and took responsibility in German lighthouse projects in e-learning, amongst them „L³-Life Long Learning“.

Dr. Ehlers is an internationally recognised researcher and innovator in the area of e-learning. His main research interest cover quality management for and competence development with e-learning, and the role of education for sustainable development. He has extensive experience in helping individuals and organisations achieving superior learning performances and has run several projects and evaluations in the field of e-learning and knowledge management as well as e-business including new-technology-consulting for small and medium sized enterprises.

Dr. Ehlers developed the Learners’ Quality Model for e-learning, which is recognise nationally and internationally and serves as a basis for learner centred quality development in e-learning. He is the author/ publisher of several books and more than 50 articles and book chapters, has been a featured speaker at numerous European and international conferences, and is active member of several professional associations for e-learning and education in Germany.

He is initiator and director of the European Foundation for Quality in E-Learning.
