Born (1966) in Vitoria-Gasteiz (Spain), Santiago has degrees (1989) in Psychology (Autonomous University of Madrid) and PhD degree (1999) in Educational and Philosophy Sciences (Psycho didactic program). He worked in primary schools for ten years, then moved into teacher education, at University of the Basque Country, where he is involved in several research and educational projects related to ICT. His research interests are in digital literacy and virtual education, and he has been also involved in a number of funded projects in the area of values in education and social knowledge construction. He has published in these and related areas, most recently, New ways on cooperation: education and ICT (C&P. “Comunicación y Pedagogía”, 2008) and was editor of the open-access journal “Revista de Psicodidáctica” for ten years. He is currently a member of HegoBit Aldea (NGO), and is becoming more involved in issues of ICT for the poorest citizens. He is involved in the project From bit to bit: Virtual Campus of Unity 212 (Teziutlán), funded by the National Pedagogical University and the Public Educational Secretary (Mexico).
